We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team and drive the development of firmware for our IoT Smart Energy Hardware. Which consists of en ecosystem of sensors and controllers.

Position Overview:
As an Embedded Software Engineer at Chargee, you will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of firmware for our expanding range of IoT smart energy meter hardware dongles. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, functionality, and performance of our embedded systems, enabling new features, and supporting various hardware components. The primary focus will be on firmware development in C, with a strong emphasis on scalability and integration with technologies such as Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Matter. We develop on top of the ESP and require the engineer to be well equipped at prototyping and working on production code.

Key Responsibilities:
– Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT smart energy meter hardware.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand hardware requirements and optimize firmware performance. You will be working intensely with Backend and Ops.
– Integrate and optimize communication protocols such as Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Matter for local network connectivity with sensors and other devices.
– Work on firmware updates through an OTA process and support new hardware components, features as the product evolves.
– Perform debugging and troubleshooting of embedded systems to resolve issues and ensure stability.
– Develop and maintain documentation for firmware development, coding standards, and best practices.
– Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems and IoT.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
– Proven experience in embedded software development using C and familiar with the Espressif stack.
– Familiarity with IoT protocols and technologies, including Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Matter.
– Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded system architectures.
– Proficiency in debugging hardware and troubleshooting embedded systems.
– Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development tools.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Previous experience in the development of smart energy or IoT devices.
– Knowledge of power management techniques and energy-efficient firmware design.
– Familiarity with low-power microcontroller architectures.
– Experience with wireless communication and security protocols.
– Understanding of hardware design principles.
